I teach World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, and Economics in a Special Day Class Setting to 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.
The Special Day Class (SDC) setting is a self contained special education class which provides services to students with intensive needs that cannot be met by the general education program, Resource Specialist Program (RSP) or through Designated Instruction Service (DIS) program. Typically, these classes consist of more then 50% of the student’s day.
The curriculum is presented in a variety of multi-modality learning strategies with emphasis in specialized academic instruction (SAI):

Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) is determined by the IEP team and is derived from assessment information, data collected, and goals/objectives developed in the student's area(s) of need. To ensure that students who receive special education services have appropriate access to the general curriculum, the team may determine supports needed by the student to make educational gains including adapting the content, approach or delivery of instruction.

Teacher-facilitated whole-group and small-group instruction with the use of powerpoints, outlines, graphic organizers, and Cornell notes with guided instructional practices.

Technology based learning with the use of Google Classroom and online text readers with lexile level adjustments.

Analysis of Primary and Secondary sources of historical information.

Guided and Independent reserach practices of Document-Based Questions (DBQ)
